After birth, babies can only drink milk and gradually add complementary foods after half a year old. As a first-time mother, I was not very familiar with the amount of milk to be fed. If I fed too little, I worried about starving my baby, and if I fed too much, I worried about holding on. So how many times do you breastfeed each day?
Each baby has different needs, and the frequency and quantity of breastfeeding are also different, which can be adjusted according to the baby's needs. Due to the small gastric capacity of newborns, they should not be fed too much at a time. Generally, it can be fed every 3-4 hours, with 40-50 milliliters per feeding. The feeding amount does not need to be fixed each time. As long as the baby is full and no longer wants to drink, do not force feeding to avoid the baby being stretched.
Because the size of each baby's stomach is different and their digestive ability is also different, the interval between each feeding is also different, but the time between two feedings should not exceed 4 hours. If the baby is still sleeping after 4 hours, it is necessary to wake them up and breastfeed them.
After feeding the baby, don't rush to put it down. Be sure to burp the baby, otherwise it's easy to vomit milk. And when breastfeeding, do not shake or tease the baby, to avoid the baby not taking the air seriously while drinking. In short, there is no need to be too fixed when feeding the baby each time. Just pay attention to whether the baby has drunk enough. If the baby has drunk enough, do not feed them and avoid holding them up. If the baby still wants to drink after drinking the normal amount, they can add a little more appropriately.
