These Are the Most Googled Halloween Costumes of 2018

Wondering what looks you can expect to see trick-or-treaters sporting this year? With a little help from Google’s list of the most searched costumes of 2018 , we’re ready to place some bets.

Following this year’s craze for the battle royale video game, the No. 1 trending Halloween costume is Fortnite. This costume is most popular in Montgomery, Ala., Eureka, Calif., Steubenville, Ohio, Casper, Wyo., and McAllen, Texas. It’s a pretty impressive feat considering video games only account for 4 percent of Halloween costume searches, according to Google.

Top 10 Trending Costumes

With the exception of a few, the top 10 searches consist of a bunch of classic go-to looks.

  3. Unicorn
  4. Dinosaur
  5. Witch
  6. Harley Quinn
  7. Superhero
  8. Pirate
  9. Rabbit
  10. Princess

The list shows while timely and trendy looks, such as Fortnite characters and unicorns, will make quite a statement this year, there’s still a lot of room for tried but true Halloween costumes like witches, superheroes and princesses.

Other classic costumes which made the top 30 include a clown (No. 11), zombie (No. 16), vampire (No. 24), pumpkin (No. 25) and angel (No. 30).

There are many pop culture-driven looks holding rank this year, such as Wonder Woman (No. 12), Black Panther (No. 23) and Moana (No. 40). In addition, different decades are scattered throughout, with 1980s (No. 21), 1990s (No. 66), 1970s (No. 68) and 1950s (No. 97) all falling on the list.
