Pediatric spinal manipulation techniques

Pediatric spine massage is a method of pediatric massage that is very simple to operate and suitable for mothers. Pediatric spine massage can treat problems such as picky eating, indigestion, and susceptibility to colds in children. Next, let's introduce the steps of pediatric spinal manipulation techniques in the encyclopedia!

Pediatric spinal manipulation techniques1

  1. Posture preparation

Let the baby lie prone on the bed, keeping their back straight and relaxed. Align the belly of the thumb with the belly of the index and middle fingers, and prepare to push upwards along the spine from the Changqiang acupoint (3-5 centimeters behind the anus) on both sides of the spine.

  2. Push forward from Changqiang acupoint

Pinch the skin on both sides of the spine and push forward with the thumb along the self growing strong acupoint (3-5 centimeters behind the anus).

  3. Push forward all the way to the baby's Dazhui acupoint

Pinch and push from both sides of the sacrum towards the occipital region, all the way to the Great Vertebral Acupoint (the bony protrusion behind the neck and shoulder), and do one round of spinal compression.

  4. Pediatric spine massage guidance

  (1) 1-3 times: Pinch only. Pinch the vertebrae and lift them up twice. Use your backhand to apply 2, 3, and 4 fingertips to the spine and rub downwards until the coccyx is reached. Then pinch the flesh on the coccyx and start the second pass.

  (2) 4th to 5th times: Pinch the flesh of the coccyx and lift it upwards, then lift it every two times, one or two times. When it comes to the ribs, don't lift them anymore. Follow the old method and continue pinching until the vertebrae are reached, then turn your back and lower them.

  Precautions for Pediatric Spinal Massage

  1. At the beginning, the technique should be gentle, and gradually increase over time to help the child adapt.

  2. Pinch and twist, not twist.

  3. When twisting and pushing forward, it should be straight forward and not skewed.

  4. Pinch once a day for 7-10 consecutive days as one course of treatment. Babies with delayed therapeutic effects can receive two consecutive treatment courses.

  5. Spinal therapy is suitable for babies aged half a year and above to around 7 years old. Babies who are too young have delicate skin, and poor control of force can easily cause skin damage; If one is too old, it may affect the therapeutic effect due to the thickness of the dorsal muscles, which makes it difficult to lift and the improper placement of acupoints.
