Coughing in children is not an easy task for both parents and children. Children may develop bronchitis or even pneumonia due to persistent coughing that cannot be cured. Most parents will choose the safest nebulization treatment for their children. But atomization actually has some minor harm. Traditional Chinese medicine generally recommends massage therapy when children cough. Is cough massage effective for children?
If the cough is not very severe, it is mostly caused by digestion and phlegm dampness. The cough caused by this situation requires massage of the Bagua acupoint. The Eight Trigrams are located within a range of approximately 0.5 centimeters from the palm of a child's hand. So if the cough is not too severe, you can massage the acupoints in a clockwise direction. If a child coughs severely, to the point where the cough cannot be stopped, they can do the "reverse luck eight trigrams" to reduce qi and relieve cough.
Children's fever usually occurs at night. Children often have a fever of 38-39 ℃. When there is a high fever, a acupoint called Tui Liu Fu can be done, which is a gentle massage from the tip of the child's elbow to the base of the little finger. Children's skin is delicate and needs to be lubricated with some oil. It is recommended to use food oil, which has good lubrication. Then use four palm fingers to centrifuge and push downwards, at a light and agile speed, about 180 times per minute. If the child has a high fever, then only half a hour of massage is needed. The older the child gets, the longer the massage time.
If after massage, it is found that the child's body temperature has not only decreased compared to the Jiangxia area but also increased, don't panic, it means that the heat in the child's body is dissipating, causing a temporary increase in body temperature, which will gradually decrease within two hours, and after the fever subsides, there will be no recurrence of fever.
