The navel of a newborn baby is a very susceptible area to infection. When a newborn has a navel infection, it is easy to get sick, so mothers must take strict disinfection and care measures to avoid infection. After the baby is born, the umbilical cord gradually falls off within 3-7 days under normal circumstances. Many novice mothers are not very clear about the care of their baby's umbilical cord. So, how to take care of their baby's umbilical cord after it falls off?
After the umbilical cord falls, do not rub the umbilical cord. Disinfect and clean the umbilical cord in a timely manner. When showering the baby every day, you can clean the umbilical cord and then dry it with water. You can also use an alcohol swab to wipe it clean. Then disinfect the baby's umbilical cord stump and umbilical fossa, as well as the skin around the umbilical cord and umbilical area, to keep the baby's umbilical area clean.
After the umbilical cord falls off, it is necessary to keep the navel dry. If the umbilical cord is wet with water or urine, it is easy to be infected with bacteria before or just after the baby's navel falls off. Therefore, once the umbilical cord is wet with water or urine, it should be immediately wiped dry with a dry cotton ball or clean soft gauze, and then disinfected with alcohol cotton balls. Do not let the baby soak in a bathtub before the umbilical cord falls off, just in case the umbilical cord gets wet.
After the umbilical cord falls off, when wearing diapers, be careful not to let the diaper or clothes rub against the umbilical cord residue. When the umbilical cord has not yet fallen off or has just fallen off, avoid stimulating the baby's umbilical cord with clothes or diapers. Therefore, flip the upper front of the diaper downwards to reduce the friction of the diaper on the umbilical cord residue.
