How to physically cool down a 1-year-old baby

At present, it is the transition between winter and spring. In this season of sudden warmth and coldness, as long as one is not careful, it is easy to catch a cold and fever, especially for babies who have not been born yet. When a baby has a fever, most mothers are unwilling to directly administer medication to the baby and instead choose physical cooling methods. So, how can a 1-year-old baby physically cool down?

  1. Warm water bath cooling method: Wash a towel in warm water once, then twist the towel to a damp state by hand, and wipe the baby's whole body with a damp towel. This method can help cool down the baby. Although this method is easy to operate, the water temperature must be well controlled and maintained at around 32-35 degrees Celsius.

  2. Drinking water and urinating to cool down: Encouraging babies to drink more water can not only replenish the necessary water in their bodies, but also increase the frequency of urination. When babies urinate more frequently, toxins in their bodies can be eliminated through urine, which can alleviate the symptoms of fever. It is best to add an appropriate amount of glucose or salt to the water when feeding babies, as this can prevent electrolyte loss in the baby's body.

Compared to medication for fever reduction, although physical cooling is safe, its cooling effect is relatively poor. If the baby has a high fever temperature, it is recommended to choose medication for fever reduction to avoid delaying the condition.
