What's wrong with having black before menstruation

Women of childbearing age experience menstruation every month, and some women may have some premonitory symptoms before the onset of their menstrual cycle, such as lower abdomen, chest swelling, etc. Especially, some women may have a small amount of black discharge before menstruation. So, what's the reason for having black before menstruation?

What's wrong with having black before menstruation1

  1. Some women may experience a small amount of black vaginal discharge before their menstrual period, which is a normal physiological phenomenon if there are no other obvious discomfort symptoms. Before the onset of menstruation, a small portion of the endometrium in women has already shed, and if it accumulates in the uterine cavity for a long time, it will appear black brown due to oxidation. Therefore, this color change can occur in premenstrual secretions.

  2. Some women have a weak and cold constitution, especially those with uterine coldness syndrome, which can lead to poor circulation of qi and blood due to poor internal environment of the uterine cavity, resulting in blood stasis and qi stagnation. Therefore, a small amount of secretions may appear as black brown in the premenstrual period. Moreover, women with body cold and qi deficiency, weak blood, and uterine cold often experience symptoms such as reduced menstrual flow, blackened menstrual blood, and even obvious dysmenorrhea.

  3. If women have black discharge and increased secretion during premenstrual period, as well as severe abdominal pain, they should also be alert to possible gynecological diseases such as endometriosis. Therefore, women with multiple abnormal symptoms during premenstrual period should also consider these causes.
