The tricuspid valve is a valve located between the right atrium and the right ventricle, which prevents blood from the right ventricle from flowing back into the right atrium. Through ultrasound examination, tricuspid valve regurgitation can be detected, which is a common physiological change in most cases, so there is no need to worry too much. So, what should we do if there is mild tricuspid regurgitation in the fetus?
1. The main metabolism of the fetus is completed through maternal blood circulation, so there may be many normal gaps in the uterus, such as ductus arteriosus and atrial spaces, which may be caused by valve hypoplasia and are normal phenomena. After birth, they will close on their own, and the corresponding symptoms of tricuspid regurgitation will disappear. Some mild regurgitation may be an early manifestation of heart malformation and require timely treatment.
2. If there is only simple tricuspid valve closure without pulmonary arterial hypertension, it may be caused by infectious endocarditis and generally does not require surgical treatment. If it is caused by other reasons, active treatment is needed to improve it. Patients with severe tricuspid valve disease require treatment through annuloplasty or artificial heart valve replacement surgery.
3. If the fetus shows a small amount of tricuspid regurgitation symptoms, the main reason may be due to underdeveloped heart function. Pregnant women should maintain a good psychological state and adopt a left lateral position, which can relieve the symptoms. They need to go to the hospital regularly for color ultrasound examination to see if there are significant changes in reflux and receive targeted treatment.
