What is the normal range for nt value

There are many items that need to be checked during pregnancy, and the results of each examination determine whether the fetal development is normal. So throughout the entire pregnancy, besides having high expectations and fantasies for the fetus, the mother's inner anxiety never stops for a day. Nt examination is also one of the examination items for pregnant women. So, what is the range of nt values that are not within the normal range?

What is the normal range for nt value1

The meaning of Nt examination is semi transparent examination of the neck, mainly to check whether the baby is at risk of Down syndrome, other chromosomal abnormalities or congenital heart disease.

The normal value of NT is generally less than or equal to 2.5 millimeters. If the NT value is greater than 2.5 millimeters, it is considered an abnormal phenomenon, and the risk of Down syndrome or chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus is relatively high. In general, pregnant mothers need to undergo further examinations to diagnose, such as chorionic villus puncture or amniocentesis to confirm.

The first reason for this abnormality is cystic lymphoma, which can cause excessive swelling of the fetal neck. The other reason is fetal edema, which can also cause abnormal NT values if the fetus has cardiovascular or skeletal development problems.

Of course, if there is an issue with the NT value, it does not necessarily mean that the baby's development is problematic. As long as the baby's chromosomes are normal, the impact is generally not significant. Pregnant mothers only need to undergo proper examinations, and once problems are discovered, they can solve them too early.
