What does gestational sac mean1

The gestational sac belongs to the primitive form of placental tissue, which is a small embryo wrapped in the amniotic membrane and vascular network. The gestational sac is the initial form of a female fetus during pregnancy, before the formation of a fetus, but with a fetal bud and heart. Ectopic pregnancy can also result in the appearance of a gestational sac, which is often caused by the fertilized egg not being able to enter the uterus smoothly due to inflammation or adhesion of the fallopian tubes. Ectopic pregnancy can cause heavy bleeding in pregnant women, so the fetus cannot survive.

Usually, during B-ultrasound examination, the gestational sac is discovered and its position and area are observed to determine whether it is an intrauterine pregnancy or an ectopic pregnancy. The gestational sac only exists in the early stages of a woman's pregnancy and disappears completely by the 11th week of pregnancy.

If an empty gestational sac is found during B-ultrasound examination, which means there is no fetal bud or fetal heart, it indicates abnormal development of the embryo. If the gestational sac is irregular, blurry, and accompanied by vaginal bleeding, timely fetal preservation treatment is needed, as it is likely to be a sign of threatened miscarriage. In the early stages of pregnancy, due to unstable embryo implantation and external factors, miscarriage may occur. Therefore, it is important to avoid vigorous exercise during this period.
