What causes the cleanliness of vaginal discharge1

The cleanliness of vaginal discharge is an inspection item for vaginal discharge, mainly by observing it under a microscope and determining the cleanliness based on the number of vaginal bacteria, white blood cells, and miscellaneous bacteria.

The cleanliness of vaginal discharge is divided into four degrees:

  1. At one point, if vaginal bacteria, epithelial cells, and white blood cells are present in the vaginal discharge without any impurities, it indicates that the discharge is normal.

  2. Second degree, vaginal bacteria, epithelial cells, white blood cells, and a small amount of miscellaneous bacteria in vaginal discharge indicate that vaginal discharge is also normal.

  3. Third degree, there is a small amount of vaginal bacteria and white blood cells in the vaginal discharge, with a relatively high amount of miscellaneous bacteria. This situation indicates that there is a problem with the vaginal discharge and mild inflammation.

  4. Fourth degree, there are no vaginal bacteria in the vaginal discharge, only a few epithelial cells, and a large number of white blood cells and miscellaneous bacteria. This also indicates that there is a problem with the vaginal discharge, with serious vaginal inflammation, commonly including fungal vaginitis and trichomonas vaginitis.

The above first and second degree indicate that vaginal discharge is normal and there is no problem. Third or fourth degree indicates abnormal vaginal discharge and problems with the vagina. So, in situations like this, we need to carefully identify the cause and treat it accordingly.
