When couples are preparing for infertility for a long time, both parties need to go to the hospital for examination. Nowadays, male infertility is mostly related to sperm, and asthenozoospermia is one of the causes of male infertility. In layman's terms, asthenozoospermia refers to the low sperm motility in males. The number of viable sperm in this type of male semen is very small, and even if they can successfully enter the female body, due to insufficient vitality, it is difficult for them to continue and meet with the egg. So, what is asthenozoospermia?
What is asthenozoospermia
Asthenozoospermia, in simple terms, refers to a lack of vitality in sperm. The proportion of sperm that can move forward courageously is too low, which can affect the chances of conception. We all know that sperm is stored together with semen and ejaculated into the female reproductive tract, but after that, the semen will quickly liquefy, and the movement of sperm will no longer be restricted. The competition for "free running" begins at this time, and the strength of motor ability will be revealed. Generally speaking, most cases of asthenozoospermia occur invisibly and are difficult to detect. All we can do is to prevent and treat it to increase the chances of conception.
What are the symptoms of asthenozoospermia
1. If both the young couple are of marriageable age, have lived together for two years without taking any contraceptive measures and have not become pregnant, and the woman's test results are normal, then the man can consider whether he has asthenozoospermia.
2. If less than half of the sperm in the semen parameters move forward (the sum of AB and A levels), or less than a quarter of the sperm in the A level move forward, while the other parameters are basically at normal levels, it can be judged as asthenozoospermia.
3. Patients with asthenozoospermia usually have semen that does not liquefy, which can cause low sperm motility, resulting in a large and cloudy semen volume.
4. Some patients with asthenozoospermia may also experience soreness and weakness in the waist and knees, fear of cold and coldness, and have some sexual or hidden pain in the lower abdomen and perineum. In addition, there may be symptoms such as dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, forgetfulness, and dry mouth and tongue.
5. The semen of patients with asthenozoospermia is usually thick and yellow in color. Sometimes there may be burning sensation in the urethra, discomfort in the genital area, or painful ejaculation. In severe cases, patients may also experience fear of sexual activity.
