The hazards of artificial insemination

Nowadays, with changes in the environment and lifestyle habits, there are more and more families suffering from infertility. In order to fulfill their dreams of becoming parents and experience the joy of being a parent, many infertile families seek medical treatment everywhere, hoping to conceive a baby. However, there will always be people who seek medical treatment but fail, so they have to resort to artificial insemination to prepare for pregnancy. Some families mistakenly believe that artificial insemination technology is perfect and can quickly hold a baby. But relevant experts say that although artificial insemination technology is a relatively advanced assisted reproductive technology for modern times, there are still many drawbacks. If infertile patients want to use artificial insemination, they need to be mentally prepared. So what are the hazards of artificial insemination?

The hazards of artificial insemination1

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome: Due to the need for ovulation induction treatment before artificial insemination, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome may occur.

Endometriosis: Due to intrauterine fertilization, excessive or rapid injection of semen and high pressure can induce endometriosis, but this condition is relatively rare.

Abnormal pregnancy: The incidence of multiple pregnancies caused by artificial insemination can reach 20%, ectopic pregnancy is about 2% to 8%, and the rate of natural miscarriage is 20% to 30%.

Pelvic infection: Artificial insemination requires the use of a thin tube to deliver optimized semen into the uterus, which increases the risk of uterine and fallopian tube infections. If the operator carries bacteria or the semen is not properly processed to ensure a sterile environment, it can also lead to bacterial contamination.

Bleeding and injury: often caused by improper operating methods, improper use of equipment, rough operation, and lack of proficiency. So it is necessary to choose a moderately soft and hard fertilization tube, and the operation should be light, accurate, and stable to avoid damaging the endometrium and cervical canal, causing bleeding and affecting the fertilization effect.

Lower abdominal pain: Excessive and rapid semen injection during artificial insemination, coupled with high pressure, can cause uterine spasms, contractions, and pain. Especially during intrauterine insemination, if too much semen is injected, it will flow into the abdominal cavity through the fallopian tubes, causing irritating lower abdominal pain.

Low success rate: Surveys have found that the success rate of artificial insemination is not very high, with only about 40% of mothers successfully getting pregnant, and the ability to give birth to a child is only between 10% and 15%.

Artificial insemination, although it can assist in conception, has many complications and cannot guarantee the successful birth of a baby. Therefore, careful consideration is necessary before deciding whether artificial insemination is necessary.
