Luteal insufficiency refers to the insufficient endocrine function of the corpus luteum formed after ovulation, resulting in insufficient secretion of progesterone and insufficient conversion of endometrial secretion, leading to ovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

The main symptoms of luteal insufficiency patients are as follows:

  1. Menstrual disorders: Patients with luteal insufficiency may experience shortened menstrual cycles (less than 28 days), increased frequency of incoming menstruation, and premenstrual bleeding.

  2. Infertility: Women in their reproductive period may find it difficult to conceive, or they may experience miscarriage if they become pregnant.

  3. The endometrium cannot produce normal secretion reactions, and the endometrial reactions are uneven.

  4. Basal body temperature: The day after ovulation in women, due to the formation of the corpus luteum in the ovaries, the secretion of progesterone by the corpus luteum will cause the body temperature to rise by about 0.6 degrees Celsius, resulting in a biphasic change in temperature. The high temperature period lasts for about 14 days. However, patients with luteal insufficiency may experience a slower or lower increase in body temperature, usually less than 0.5 ℃, and the duration of temperature rise is only about 9 days.

If you are a woman and your body experiences the symptoms described in this article, then you need to seriously consider whether your corpus luteum secretion is insufficient.
