The ten months of pregnancy are actually very difficult, especially in the late stages of pregnancy. Some pregnant women experience significant edema in the late stages of pregnancy, making it difficult to tie shoelaces and use the restroom; Some pregnant women may experience lower back pain and discomfort in the late stages of pregnancy. I would like to inquire why I experience lower back pain during late pregnancy?
There are several situations to consider for lower back pain in late pregnancy:
1. Hormones in pregnant women undergo changes, and the hormone levels gradually increase to meet the needs of childbirth. The increase in hormone levels can cause the ligaments and bones in the lower back of the pregnant woman to relax, especially the ligaments that gradually elongate with the increase of pregnancy. This can make the lumbar spine unstable. If sitting or standing for a long time, it is easy to experience back pain.
2. In the late stage of pregnancy, the fetus is gradually increasing in size, and the weight of the fetus is also rapidly increasing, which will increase the burden on the lumbar spine. Especially in the lower lumbar spine, when the burden increases, there will be physiological anterior convexity of the lumbar spine. When the load on the lumbar spine increases beyond the capacity of the lumbar muscles, it can lead to damage to the lumbar muscles and easily cause back pain.
When experiencing lower back pain in late pregnancy, it is important to stand and sit less frequently, and it is recommended to lie down on the left side while sleeping. If the back pain is severe, it can be treated through physical methods such as hot compress and massage.
