As is well known, the fetus is not very stable in the early stages of pregnancy. Due to some female friends not realizing that they are pregnant in the early stages of pregnancy, they do not pay much attention to their daily lives, which may lead to slight bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy. So, is occasional bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy normal?
Occasional bleeding during early pregnancy is abnormal. Early pregnancy bleeding, also known as early pregnancy redness, refers to the appearance of a small amount of bloody discharge in the vagina within 12 weeks of pregnancy, similar to the amount of bleeding in the early or late stages of menstruation. The color of bleeding may be pink, red, or brown. About 1/4 of pregnant women will experience varying degrees of redness in the early stages of pregnancy, and about half of those who experience redness will eventually have a miscarriage. The reason for occasional bleeding during early pregnancy may be:
1. Ectopic pregnancy: Minor bleeding and persistent lower abdominal pain, sometimes with sudden exacerbation of lower abdominal pain. Due to the similarity between symptoms and miscarriage, it is easy to confuse them, so sufficient attention should be given. During the 4th and 5th weeks of pregnancy, the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy can be confirmed through vaginal ultrasound equipment.
2. Threatened miscarriage: There is initially a small amount of irregular bleeding, recurrent lower abdominal pain, and accompanied by lower back pain or abdominal tension. As the amount of bleeding gradually increases, sometimes the fertilized egg may be expelled from the body along with the blood clot. If there is an infection in the uterus, it may also cause fever.
3. Early placental abruption: Sudden and severe abdominal pain, usually accompanied by bleeding, but there are also cases where there is no bleeding. If the extent of abruption expands, the abdomen will become harder. When the pain is severe and there is a large amount of bleeding, it is necessary to seek relevant treatment at the hospital in a timely manner.
