After the egg of a female friend combines with the sperm of a male friend, she will become pregnant. However, many people do not have sufficient knowledge about sperm and eggs. In fact, in order for a woman to conceive, her body must have normal follicles and healthy eggs. So, are follicles eggs?
Follicles are not eggs, but eggs cannot do without follicles. Under the influence of sex hormones, women's follicles only mature one oocyte per month. After undergoing meiosis, this mature oocyte forms four daughter cells, one of which is called the egg, and the three are called polar bodies (ultimately degenerated and lost). The human ovary produces egg cells, which contain many oogonia. Usually, women only produce one egg cell per month, and in rare cases, they may produce two or more eggs. Oocyte progenitor cells form follicles together with surrounding follicular cells, and the follicles gradually mature and release egg cells.
The formation of eggs begins with the detachment of the endometrium, which is periodic and occurs once a month. The endometrium is influenced by the periodic changes in the ovarian endocrine system, and after each normal shedding of the endometrium, follicles in the ovary begin to develop.
Around the middle of the menstrual cycle, which is 14 days before the next menstrual period, the corpus luteum will form in the ovarian follicles, secreting estrogen and eggs.
