If the quality of a man's semen is not high, he cannot provide strong enough sperm to combine with a woman's egg to form a fertilized egg. Some male friends feel that their sperm liquefaction quality is not good and want to go for testing. So, how to test sperm liquefaction at home?

Take a container to hold semen and observe liquefaction. After normal semen is ejaculated, it becomes thick and gelatinous under the action of coagulase secreted by the seminal vesicles. After 10 to 20 minutes of ejaculation, it liquefies under the action of fibrinolytic enzyme secreted by the prostate gland, becoming thinner. Liquefaction time: less than 30 minutes; Liquefaction abnormality refers to the phenomenon where semen cannot fully liquefy at least half an hour after ejaculation or begins to liquefy after more than an hour. It includes semen non liquefaction and delayed semen liquefaction, commonly referred to as semen non liquefaction.

How to check sperm by yourself

  1. Semen volume: The normal volume should be greater than or equal to 2ml (milliliters). If it exceeds 7ml, it is considered excessive. At this time, not only does the sperm density decrease, but it is also easy to flow out of the female vagina, resulting in a decrease in the total number of sperm, which is common in patients with seminal vesiculitis. If the total amount is less than 2ml, it is considered low semen volume, and less than 1ml is considered insufficient, which can easily lead to infertility.

  2. Color: Normal color is gray white or slightly yellow. If the semen appears milky white or yellow green, it indicates inflammation in the male reproductive tract or accessory glands. If pink, red, or red blood cells can be seen under a microscope, it is bloody semen, commonly seen in patients with accessory glands and posterior urethritis, and occasionally in patients with tuberculosis or tumors.

  3. Liquefaction time: After normal semen ejaculation, it will become gelatinous under the action of seminal vesicle coagulase, and after 15-30 minutes, it will become liquid under the action of prostatic liquefying enzyme, which is called semen liquefaction. If the semen does not liquefy after 30 minutes of ejaculation, it is considered abnormal.

  4. Viscosity: Contact the liquefied semen with a glass rod and gently lift it to form semen strands. If the semen is normal, the length of the semen filament should be less than 2 centimeters.

If the quality of sperm liquefaction is not satisfactory after testing at home, one should not panic. It is crucial to go to the hospital for a detailed physical examination to further confirm the diagnosis. When men experience sperm liquefaction problems, it is recommended to treat them first and wait until the quality of the sperm improves before conceiving.
