Compared to natural conception, although the process of in vitro fertilization is very difficult, most parents are still satisfied. So, how to calculate the due date for IVF?

How to calculate the due date for in vitro fertilization1

The estimation of the due date for in vitro fertilization requires first calculating the last menstrual period, and then calculating the due date. After the completion of ovulation induction therapy in women, the ovulation time is different from the natural state, and the due date cannot be calculated according to the original conventional method. It needs to be calculated after correcting the last menstrual period. After successful transplantation, the expected delivery date can also be calculated based on the size of the gestational sac on ultrasound.

After completing in vitro fertilization, there is a certain relationship between the estimated due date and the cultivation time of the transplanted blastocysts. Some are cultured for three days, while others are cultured for five days. Generally, the last menstrual period after correction is obtained by subtracting 14 days from the egg retrieval date, and then subtracting 3 or adding 9 to the month of the last menstrual period and adding 7 to the date. This results in the expected due date.

If calculated based on the time of embryo transfer by the pregnant mother, the transfer date should be subtracted by another 17 days to obtain the corrected last menstrual period. Then, the month of the last menstrual period should be subtracted by 3 or added by 9, and the date should be added by 7. The resulting date is the due date. So the due date for in vitro fertilization is generally not as usual, and pregnancy can be terminated early.
