How many days can the position of the gestational sac be determined

Pregnant women should pay attention to prenatal check ups in the early stages of pregnancy, as the first step is to rule out the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. However, there is no gestational sac development at the beginning of pregnancy, so it cannot be confirmed whether it is an intrauterine pregnancy at the moment. So, how many days of pregnancy can the position of the gestational sac be determined?

How many days can the position of the gestational sac be determined1

  1. Generally, after 6 weeks of pregnancy, around 40 days of pregnancy, a gestational sac can be found in the uterine cavity through ultrasound examination. Most pregnant women undergo ultrasound examination at this time, which can clearly observe the intrauterine gestational sac and determine the implantation position of the gestational sac.

  2. The implantation location of the gestational sac can be at the bottom, posterior wall, anterior wall, upper or middle part of the uterus, and it is often circular or elliptical in shape, with a clearer appearance at this time. At this stage, the size of the gestational sac is directly related to the female's gestational age. Abdominal or vaginal ultrasound measurements can be used to infer gestational age based on the size of the gestational sac.

  3. If a woman is pregnant for about 40 days and shows increased secretion of progesterone and hCG in her body, but no gestational sac is found in the uterine cavity, and there are suspected gestational sacs in other parts, such as masses in the fallopian tubes, it should be highly suspected to be related to ectopic pregnancy and further examination is needed to confirm the diagnosis.

  4. If the location of the gestational sac is accurately diagnosed as ectopic pregnancy, early treatment should be carried out to prevent further development of ectopic pregnancy, which may lead to fallopian tube rupture and cause massive bleeding.
