How do I know if my uterus is prolapsed1

Uterine prolapse refers to the descent of the uterus from its normal position along the vagina, with the cervical opening reaching below the level of the ischial spine, and even the complete detachment of the uterus outside the vaginal opening, often accompanied by protrusion of the anterior vaginal wall. The early symptoms of uterine prolapse are not obvious and are not easy to detect. Most patients cannot detect it themselves and need to undergo gynecological examinations. The late stage symptoms of uterine prolapse are obvious and can be detected by oneself. The diagnostic methods for uterine prolapse are as follows:

  1. If the uterus prolapses, there will be a feeling of sagging in the perineum, a sensation of lumps falling out of the vagina, and back pain, especially after labor, which will be more severe.

  2. Some patients with uterine prolapse may experience urinary incontinence when laughing, coughing, or exerting force on the abdomen.

  3. Severe patients may feel a lump escaping from the vagina during prolonged standing, sneezing, defecation, and other situations.

Uterine prolapse is mostly caused by pelvic floor injury or decreased pelvic floor function, and can be classified into mild, moderate, and severe according to the severity. Going to the hospital for a gynecological examination can determine the degree of uterine prolapse.
