Most people feel scared when they hear about lymphoma because it is often associated with the word 'malignant' and difficult to deal with. But in fact, lymphoma is divided into malignant lymphoma and benign lymphoma. So what is benign lymphoma? What are the early symptoms of benign lymphoma?
Lymphoma is a malignant tumor that occurs in lymph nodes or lymphoid tissue, while benign lymphoma is caused by cell swelling due to blood stasis in the intercellular matrix.
Specifically, benign lymphoma mainly has the following symptoms:
1. Onset regardless of age
Benign lymphoma may occur in any age group, but the incidence rate is higher in the age group from 31 to 40 years old. Generally speaking, there are more male patients than female patients, with a ratio of 2-3:1. Hodgkin's disease patients are mostly young people.
2. Pain free cervical or neck lymph node enlargement, axillary lymph node enlargement, and deep lymph node enlargement are the main symptoms
About 60% to 80% of benign lymphoma symptoms are painless cervical or cervical lymph node enlargement, with more on the left side than on the right side. However, axillary lymph node enlargement and deep lymph node enlargement can compress nerves and adjacent wonders, leading to other symptoms. For example, 30% to 50% of HD patients' main symptoms are unexplained persistent or periodic fever, which can develop into systemic symptoms such as night sweats, fatigue, and weight loss. As for splenomegaly and hepatomegaly, they are relatively rare.
3. Benign lymphoma of the skin
Benign lymphoma of the skin is more common in children and young women, mainly manifested as a purple red semi-circular protrusion, which can be nodular, papular, or fused into plaques, with clear boundaries, hard texture, thin and smooth epidermis, and no shedding or ulcer formation. The affected areas are usually the head, face, neck, areola, axilla, scrotum, and limbs. Usually without any conscious symptoms, it will naturally disappear after a few months and not last long. There is a possibility of recurrence and development into true cutaneous lymphoma.
We should not let our guard down just because of the word 'benign' in benign lymphoma, and we should not take related symptoms lightly. Early medical treatment is the best strategy.
